Africa’s fastest growing and largest airline, Ethiopian airlines is to relaunch flights into Singapore on June 1st 2017 with the use of its latest A350 aircraft.
The airline is collaborating the Changi international airport to give travellers a wonderful experience in Singapore.
The route which is also in partnership with Singapore airlines based on its code share agreement will ensure seamless non-stop movement of passengers with access to 53 destinations of the Ethiopian airlines.
The partnership is geared toward promoting air travel to Singapore, boost, trade, tourism and investments.
During the Singapore/Changi airport road show in Lagos, Organized by ATQ magazine,General Manager, Ethiopian airlines in Nigeria, Mr. Solomon Begashaw told journalists that it’s esteemed passengers from Nigeria would enjoy an unforgettable experience travelling to Singapore through the Nnamdi Azikiwe InternationL airport, Abuja, Murtala Mohammed International airport Lagos, Aminu Kano International airport, Kano and the Akanu Ibiam international airport, Enugu four times weekly via its hub in Ethiopia.
He said they would continue to give the best to Nigerian passengers and partner with Nigeria irrespective of the situation as their relationship dates back to the pre-independence era, ” we are brothers, we are ever ready to support Nigeria”.
Mr. Begashaw applauded the efforts of the minister, aviation, senator Hadi Sirika in the speedy completion of the Abuja airport runway, ” I congratulate the minister for the opening of the Abuja airport, it was wonderful/successful operations, it was wonderful flying into the kaduna airport, everything went seamlessly”.
On Ethiopian airlines plans, Begashaw said, ” we have a business plan, we have a vision for 2025 to be one of the leading African airlines of the world, so, the road map of this vision, we have a platform and sequences of action of what we plan to do, one of them is to expand out networks and reach to Africa and the world as much as possible. By 2025, we will be having 180 destinations where Ethiopian can fly direct, so this is the driving force and we have been ordering airplanes and also working on human capital and management which we have established an aviation academy which is serving the airlines and also the continent.
On why the airline earlier withdrew from Singapore, Begashaw said “We were not operating then with the right equipment. Then our orders were on the line, some of the airplanes we planned to use had not arrived then. Now, everything is in order, opening Singapore direct to Addis and also, we have the right equipment, the right resource to restart this market.”
