Effective 14th May,2018, the cashless policy transaction across airports in the country by the Federal Government in promoting Efficiency and Transparency in the Business Environment (Executive Order O1), will kick off.

The General Manager, Corporate Communications, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Mrs. Henrietta Yakubu said, “Further to the Federal Government of Nigeria’s intervention in promoting Efficiency and Transparency in the Business Environment (Executive Order O1), government revenue payments at all airports across Nigeria will now be made electronically effective from May 14, 2018”.

“The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) wishes to inform passengers and other airport users that effective May 14, 2018, all revenue payments to the Authority and other government agencies at the nation’s airports will now be done electronically and through approved channels”.

According to her, the policy applies to government revenue and exempts Access gates, Food courts, Shops and other non-governmental (private) businesses operating at the airports.

To ensure the seamless implementation of this policy, the Authority had deployed
Point of Sales (POS) machines to payment points across the airport and official arrangements for direct transfers.

“Please note that from the effective date, FAAN will no longer accept cash as a mode of payment for official government revenue at airports. Consequently, whoever pays cash to any government official will be doing so at his/her own risk”.

“We look forward to enabling seamless travel airport processes for all passengers at Nigerian airports. Thank you for your support as we promote efficiency and transparency in Nigeria”.
