In a move to recognize the significant contributions of individuals to the development of their communities, the Nine communities of Uneme in Edo North are set to honor a distinguished group of personalities.
Among those to be celebrated at an award and fundraising ceremony in Benin on Saturday, September 14th, is Dr. Sola Obabori, the Group Executive Director of NAHCO aviance Plc.
Joining Dr. Obabori on the list of honorees are prominent figures such as Abubakar Momoh, the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs; Senator Adams Oshiomole, former Edo state Governor; Archbishop Tunde Adeleye, the Anglican Bishop of Calabar Diocese; Dr. Ainojie Irune, Executive Director of Oando Nigeria Limited; Dr. Bridget Osakwe, National Network Coordinator of WANEP Nigeria; Sir. Dayo Alabi, former President of UNDA; Dr. Adetutu Obabori, Principal of Queens College; and Professor Emmanuel Emasealu of the University of Port Harcourt.
According to the Chairman of the planning committee, Mr. Bayo Akhigbe, the communities decided to honor these individuals for their invaluable contributions to the development of Uneme communities.
Their efforts in various fields, including education, health, agriculture, and job creation, have had a positive impact on the lives of the people.
As part of the ceremony, the communities will also launch a five hundred million naira education and security trust fund. This initiative aims to address the pressing development challenges currently facing the Uneme communities.
Mr. Akhigbe expressed the gratitude of the communities to their illustrious sons and daughters, emphasizing their significant contributions to the well-being of the region.
He called upon them to continue their support and involvement in the development of Uneme communities.
