Dr. Allen Onyema, Chairman of Air Peace, has been awarded the prestigious “Outstanding Support/Service to the Nigerian Army” award by the Nigerian Army at the 2024 Nigerian Army Day Celebration.
The event took place on July 6th at the Maxwell Khobe Cantonment in Jos, Plateau State, and was attended by notable dignitaries, including the Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, Governor of Plateau State, Barr Caleb Mutfwang, and Governor of Taraba State, Agbu Kefas.
According to Lieutenant General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja, Chief of Army Staff, the award recognizes Onyema’s continuous efforts to contribute to Nigeria’s socio-economic development through his airline and other enterprises, as well as his outstanding service to the nation and humanity.
Air Peace has a long history of supporting the Nigerian military. When the airline was established in 2014, Onyema introduced a special initiative, offering Nigerian military personnel a 10,000 naira rebate on flights. In 2022, the airline further demonstrated its commitment to honoring military personnel by introducing a priority boarding policy for military officers.
Onyema has consistently emphasized the importance of recognizing and rewarding the nation’s military personnel for their invaluable service. “It is our way of saying thank you for all they are doing for the country,” he said, highlighting his dedication to motivating and supporting the nation’s military.
In September 2023, Onyema pledged to introduce rebates on flight tickets for retired officers of the Nigerian military during his conferment with a Doctor of Management Science Degree by the Nigerian Defence Academy at its 33rd Convocation Ceremony in Kaduna.
Onyema’s unwavering support for the Nigerian military and his substantial contributions to Nigeria’s socio-economic development have inspired and significantly impacted the nation, reflecting his dedication as a Pan-Nigerian nationalist.
