COREN to Unveil Reforms at Lagos Engineering Stakeholders Summit

The Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) is hosting a Lagos Regional Engineering Stakeholders Summit on February 18th, 2025, to discuss its recent restructuring, reforms, and new operational framework.

The Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, will serve as the Special Guest of Honour at this landmark event, taking place at the Marriott Hotel in Ikeja. 

The Summit brings together key stakeholders, policymakers, industry leaders, academia, and engineering professionals.

Key Highlights of the Summit include, unveiling of COREN’s reforms designed to improve efficiency, compliance, and governance in engineering practice nationwide.

Keynote address by the Governor of Lagos State, emphasizing the role of engineering in sustainable infrastructure development and economic growth and inauguration of the Lagos Regional Steering Committee (LRSC) to oversee COREN’s regional activities, including enforcement, monitoring, and investigations.

Others are, Aintroduction of expanded regulatory coverage for eleven engineering sectors, including:

Agro-Allied Engineering

Aviation & Aerospace Engineering

Oil and Gas Engineering

Construction & Building Engineering

(and others), Fostering collaboration between regulatory bodies and stakeholders to drive national development through engineering innovation.

COREN President, Engr. Prof. Sadiq Zubair Abubakar says, “This Summit is an opportunity to shape the future of engineering practice in Nigeria. Our reforms will improve compliance and strengthen COREN’s impact across all engineering sectors.”
