Cargo Plane Exits Runway at Abuja Airport, No Injuries Reported

An Allied Air Cargo aircraft, registration number 5N-JRT, experienced a runway excursion at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja this morning at 10:05. 

The incident occurred when the plane skidded off the runway, but fortunately, all five persons on board were safely evacuated with no reported injuries.

The passengers were taken to the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) clinic for further medical checks. 

The Airport Emergency Response Team and accident investigators were quickly dispatched to the scene to assess the situation.

According to Mrs. Obiageli Orah, spokesperson for FAAN, the runway is currently being cleared, and it is expected to reopen for operations as soon as possible. 

She urged the public to refrain from speculating about the incident until the preliminary report is released by the Nigeria Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB).

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria expressed gratitude to the aviation community and the general public for their understanding and patience during this time.

Mrs Orah assured that, the incident is currently under investigation, and further details will be provided as more information becomes available.
