…120 Riders Amaze with Stunts and 12km Journey
Carnival Calabar’s 20th edition came alive as over 120 bikers mesmerized the crowd with thrilling performances during the Bikers’ Parade in Calabar, Cross River.
Representing seven clubs, these bikers showcased their mastery and skills on powerful bikes, covering a 12km distance along the carnival route, drawing cheers from the excited onlookers.
Governor Bassey Otu during the flag-off ceremony for the Bikers’ Parade, Gov. represented by his deputy, Peter Odey,
emphasized safety during the flag-off, urging bikers to wear helmets and conduct the activity responsibly.
“Safety is our watchword, please no biker should ride without an helmet. Please conduct this activity with safety.
“I assure you that by next year, myself and the executive governor will participate in this activity fully, we will get our motorbikes and other materials needed”.
Dr. Gabe Onah, Chairman of Carnival Calabar Commission, highlighted the event’s aim to support local bikers and boost the economy, stressing the importance of prioritizing safety.
“We kindly request all bikers participating in the bikers Carnival Calabar to ensure they are properly kitted with helmets and safety gear.
“Your safety is our priority, and we want everyone to have a fantastic time while staying safe on the roads.
“Let’s ride responsibly and enjoy the carnival together as no biker’s gang will be allowed into the route without being fully kitted”.
Akin Ricketts, former President of Metallic Knights Motorcycle Club, encouraged both bikers and spectators to embrace biking as a peaceful hobby while emphasizing the need for safety precautions to prevent unforeseen incidents.
