The Aviation Safety Round Table Initiative (ASRTI/ART) has expressed strong disapproval over the recent arbitrary increase in fees and charges implemented by Aviation Handling Companies (AHCs).

In a statement released by the Publicity Secretary, Mr. Albinus Chiedu, the group condemned the move, arguing that it directly contradicts efforts to reduce airline operating costs and subsequently lower airfare prices for the traveling public.

“This outrageous fee hike comes at a time when we and other stakeholders are advocating for government intervention and policies aimed at reducing airline costs”.

“Such actions not only undermine efforts to tame inflation in the aviation sector but also risk compromising safety standards.”

The ASRTI/ART has called for an immediate reversal of the fee increase and a tripartite meeting involving handling companies, airlines, and the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) to establish mutually acceptable charges.
