…Calms Fears Over NCAA Leadership Transition

The Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development has issued a statement to clarify the tenure of the Acting Director-General of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Capt. Chris Najomo.

According to a statement by the Head, Press and Public Affairs, Odutayo Oluseyi, the Public Service Rules (PRS), the maximum period for an acting appointment is one year, with the possibility of an additional year in exceptional circumstances.

The Ministry’s statement aims to set the record straight and provide clarity on the situation, ensuring that the public is accurately informed about the tenure of the Acting Director-General.

Explaining further, it says, Capt. Najomo has been in office for only six months, contradicting the claims made in a recent article.

The Ministry clarified that President Bola Tinubu did not appoint Capt. Najomo for a six-month tenure. Instead, the Acting Director-General was appointed following the suspension of the former Director-General due to an ongoing investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) into allegations of corruption.

The Ministry emphasized that there is no cause for worry about Capt. Najomo’s tenure, as he remains the Acting Director-General of the NCAA, adding that, the clarification aims to prevent unnecessary tension and disaffection in the civil aviation industry.
