Aviation Lions Club: Don’t see Engineering as men’s profession alone…Musa urges female

The Ikeja Aviation Lions Club, has charged the females not to entertain any fear in taking up courses in the engineering profession.

President of the Club, Engr. Abdulrahman, Musa, said the engineering profession is not for the males alone but for everybody including the females.

At a zoom conference with the theme ‘Her Ability To Handle Tools’ Engr. Musa who was a guest speaker, said the females should believe in their ability to handle any task or profession, adding that, their male counterparts do not think they can to excel in the engineering field.

“The men presents the picture of engineering as s very difficult profession that will be tedious for the females to handle.

He urged the females to see the profession as an easy one like any other professions.

“Gender is immaterial in engineering, it is only being attributed to men because boys believe that the profession is for them and too difficult for the female”

Engr. Musa who is the head, electrical at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, MMIA, expressed delight that the number of female engineers had continued to increase in recent times, appealing to parents and science teachers to encourage the girl child in the sciences.

The program was initiated by Engr. Mrs Theresa Ihenacho who is also the guiding lion of Ikeja Aviation Lions Club.

The programme is designed to raise awareness on the need to get the girl child into the engineering profession.
