The Aviation lions club, Ikeja recently visited and made donations to Mercy’s Children’s Home for Teenage Girls.
Items donated include clothing’s, food items, sanitary towels, toiletries and water, in line with its cardinal objectives to touch lives and put smiles on the faces of the less privileged, the elderly, orphans among others.
President of the club, Ms. Theresa Chukwuedo said, the visit is part of their monthly activity.
On arrival at the Home, the Lion’s President and her entourage were warmly welcomed by the co- coordinator of the Home, they were taken down memory lane on what informed the need to establish the home.
The home presently has 25 teenage girls who are in various schools of discipline.
On how they get the children to the home, the co-cordinator said, some were picked up from the streets, others from broken homes, brought by their parents while others brought in by the Lagos State Government.
On the management of the home she said, some good Nigerians and companies make donations from time to time.
While presenting the items to the Home, Ms. Chukwuedo reiterated the club’s desire to touch lives and cushion the challenges associated with raising the girl child especially in this harsh economic.
She expressed her joy and that of other members of the club with what they saw and encouraged them to keep up the good work.
Ms. Chukwuedo called on well meaning Nigerians to partner with these bodies and make the world a better place, adding that the government can no longer do it alone.
