The Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association ATSSSAN has condemned what it termed the ingloriously termination by the management of Bi-Courtney Aviation Services limited (BASL)of the appointments of 26 of its staff who voluntarily joined ATSSSAN.
In a communique issued at the end of the The National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of ATSSSAN with the theme: Enhancing Union-Management Collaboration for Sustainable Growth and Development in the Aviation Industry in Nigeria held in Abuja, the NEC-in-Session condemned in the strongest terms the uncivil manner with which the affected staff were laid off.
The communique signed by its National President, comrade Ahmadu Ilitrus, resolved that if the management of Bi-Courtney does not recall the terminated staff and allow unfettered unionization of wiling staff of the company within 2 weeks from the date of the publication of the communiqué, ATSSSAN shall embark on a series disruption of operations at MMA2 until the management of BASL complies with its demands.
The NEC has therefore advised all domestic operators using the facilities at MMA2 Lagos to make alternative arrangements to avert unscheduled disruption of operations at the terminal.
They commended the intervention of the State Security Services (Airport Command), the Airport Police Command, the Military Commandant (MMIA Airport) and the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) for the roles they played in seeking amicable resolution of the issue despite the deliberate frustration of the efforts of above government agencies by the management of Bi-Courtney.
