Three unruly passengers were apprehended by security operatives at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos after they engaged in disruptive behaviour that endangered the safety of an Air Peace flight from London.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, when two passengers, Adedigba Adewale and Ashibogu Magnus, who were originally seated in Economy Class, unlawfully occupied seats in the Business Class cabin and refused multiple directives from the flight crew to return to their assigned seats.

The passengers were said to have bullied their way into the Business Class cabin, disregarding the safety and comfort of other passengers.

The situation escalated when the two passengers openly consumed a bottle of rum they had brought onboard, and a third passenger, Iwonze Benjamin, joined them in their unruly behaviour.

The crew’s efforts to de-escalate the situation were unsuccessful, and the passengers continued to create a tense atmosphere onboard.

The captain of the flight was forced to leave the cockpit to assess the situation personally and retreated to the cockpit as a precautionary measure due to the security and safety concerns raised by the passengers’ behavior.

The flight crew notified security agencies in Nigeria ahead of arrival, and law enforcement officials were waiting on the ground to apprehend the individuals.

Upon landing, the three passengers were taken into custody for further investigations.

Air Peace has reiterated its commitment to passenger safety and adherence to global aviation standards.

The airline emphasized that any form of disruptive behaviour will not be tolerated and assured the public of its continuous efforts to uphold the highest levels of security and order on all flights.

Air Peace praised its crew for their professionalism in handling the situation, which prevented a worse event from occurring.

The authorities are currently investigating the incident, and appropriate legal action is expected to follow.
