Akwaaba African Travel Market, Nigeria and West Africa’s premier travel and tourism fair, is gearing up to mark its 20th anniversary with the announcement of the 2024 event dates set for September 22nd to 24th in Lagos, Nigeria.

Over the past two decades, Akwaaba has become a pivotal platform fostering connections, collaborations, and showcasing the diverse offerings of the African travel industry.

As it reaches this significant milestone, the event reaffirms its commitment to promoting the rich tapestry of travel and tourism in Africa.

The 2024 edition promises a three-day experience that transcends borders, bringing together representatives from more than 50 countries to showcase dynamic destinations, travel products, and tourism initiatives that reflect the continent’s richness and diversity.

In addition to the grand anniversary celebration, Akwaaba will host its 3rd Medical Tourism Fair concurrently with the main event. This unique feature underscores the fair’s commitment to addressing various aspects of the travel industry, providing a platform for engagement between stakeholders in the medical industry and participants from Nigeria, Ghana, Turkey, Kenya, and other nations.

The upcoming event not only celebrates past achievements but also looks forward to exploring future possibilities that will shape the trajectory of travel and tourism in Africa for years to come.

Over the years, Akwaaba has garnered recognition and hosted distinguished figures, including former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and the Tourism Minister of Sierra Leone, Dr. Mrs. Memunatu Pratt.

From Africa Travel 100 Awards to Medical Tourism editions, Africa Youth in Tourism Conference, and Destination Wedding initiatives, Akwaaba African Travel Market has consistently been a catalyst for positive change in the travel and tourism sector.

As it approaches its 20th anniversary, the event’s legacy is poised to continue, earning accolades such as the Award of Excellence in Tourism from the Nigerian Government and UNWTO at the Global Tourism Summit in 2022.
