Akin Olateru bags CEO of the year at NIGAV, emphasizes manpower development

Commissioner Accident Investigation Bureau AIB Mr. Akin Olateru has clinched the award as the Best Aviation Chief Executive Officer, CEO of the year 2018 at the just concluded Nigerian Aviation NIGAV awards in Lagos

According to the organizer and chairman of the awards, Mr. Fortune Idu, the leadership of Olateru has produced immeasurable results that has helped in sustaining the safety of flights currently being enjoyed in the industry through series of safety recommendations.

He said his leadership qualities is worth emulating, adding that Olateru is not only a team player but also hard-working, resilient and a goal getter.

Mr. Idu commended the AIB boss for relentlessly ensuring that air safety is priority to AIB.

He noted that the awards is in recognition of individuals, corporate bodies and unions was to inspire best practice and performance excellence, to promote all round aviation development, to provide a platform for social networking and business integration among others.

Responding, Mr. Akin Olateru while appreciating the organizer of the event for recognising AIB’s contributions to air safety dedicated the award to the AIB staff who have worked tirelessly in not just Accident investigation but their support in ensuring the mandates of the AIB is executed to the latter.

Olateru noted that the feat was not an easy one but gave God the glory for being able to surmount all the challenges that came it way, adding that investment in manpower development is key and this is what has helped AIB to excel in the industry.

Other awards at the event includes; the Airport Manager of the year won by the Abuja airport manager, Alhaji Mahmoud Sanni, Most improved domestic airport, Benin, Airport operations Personality of the year, Mrs. Victoria Shinaba among others.

In the media categories of award, best aviation radio reporter/presenter of the year was won by Nosa Aituamen of Radio Nigeria, in the print went to Chuks Iwelumo of Daily Times and Tony Omo of FlightDeck an online aviation blog.

Airlines were not left out as Arik, Dana, MaxAir etc. Corporate organizations, FAAN, NCAA, NAMA among others.
