A Boeing 737-300 aircraft from Port-Harcourt to Lagos belonging to Airpeace made an emergency landing on the runway of the Lagos Airport this afternoon.
The aircraft on landing on 18R vied off the runway and lost its nose wheel.
Reacting to the accident, the airline commended the professionalism of the Captain and her crew for the handling the situation.
The airline explained in a statement that, “Caption Ajibola noticed sudden weather changes when approaching Lagos and demanded to land on the International runway as it is longer and wider than the domestic runway. After landing safely and rolling to the runway exit, the nose gear developed a problem and partial collapsed”.

“The crew notified the airport authorities who quickly ensured the safe disembarkation of the passengers via the passenger door”, the airline added.
Airpeace assured of their commitment to the safety of their passengers at all time.
“We will continue to operate in line with international practices and in accordance with regulatory guidelines”.
“We are being assisted by the various authorities to determine to cause of the incident”.
The Accident Investigation Bureau, AIB, says investigation had commenced into the accident immediately it was notified.
In a statement, AIB, explained that, ” From the information provided, the aircraft nose wheel collapsed on landing on the runway (18R) and the nose wheel gear tire sheared off”

The AIB, stated that it was informed of a minor injury but no fatality, added that the aircraft had 133 passengers and 6 crew on board.
The Bureau called on the public to assist with information that would assist them to unravel the cause of the accident.
“As the investigating agency, AIB needs and hereby solicits for your help. We want the public to know that we would be amenable to receiving any video clip, relevant evidence, or information any members of the public may have of the accident; that can assist us with this investigation”.
