Air Peace, Nigeria’s leading airline, etched a new chapter in aviation history on June 12, 2025, with its maiden flight from Abuja to Basseterre, St. Kitts & Nevis.
This landmark journey marks the first direct air link between Nigeria and the Eastern Caribbean nation, signifying a significant expansion of Air Peace’s global footprint.
The Boeing 777 aircraft departed from Abuja’s Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport and, after a ten-hour non-stop flight, touched down at Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport in Basseterre.
This historic service was specifically arranged to transport Nigerian delegations to a Pan-African business conference in the Eastern Caribbean, underscoring the airline’s strategic push into the international market.

A Growing Presence in the Caribbean
This recent achievement represents Air Peace’s third venture into the Caribbean in five years, solidifying its commitment to connecting Nigeria with the region.
The airline first established a direct link to the Caribbean on December 21, 2020, with an 11-hour flight from Lagos to Montego Bay, Jamaica. This pioneering service showcased the long-range capabilities of Air Peace’s then-new Boeing 777 fleet.
Further cementing its presence, Air Peace became the first Nigerian airline to land in Antigua & Barbuda on August 5, 2023, carrying investors and carnival enthusiasts from Lagos to V.C. Bird International Airport. With the successful St. Kitts & Nevis flight, Air Peace has now completed a trio of historic “firsts,” providing direct access to three key Caribbean destinations.
Strategic Expansion and Future Plans
The Abuja-St. Kitts flight utilized one of Air Peace’s two Boeing 777 aircraft, which also support the airline’s daily Lagos-London Gatwick service, launched on March 30, 2024—another significant milestone for a private Nigerian carrier.
Chairman and CEO of Air Peace, Dr. Allen Onyema, has indicated that the airline is poised to acquire more long-haul aircraft. In an April 2024 interview with Arise TV, Dr. Onyema revealed that the airline is finalizing acquisitions to bolster its planned Abuja-London route, as well as future services to Houston and New York.
The successful St. Kitts & Nevis flight reinforces Air Peace’s overarching vision: “Nigeria to the world—no stops, no limits.”
This achievement is not merely a standalone accomplishment but further evidence of Air Peace’s consistent drive to evolve from a regional leader into a formidable global competitor, powered by the immense potential of Africa’s most populous nation.
