..bird strikes, weather cited for Flight Disruptions
Air Peace, a leading Nigerian airline, says, flight delays and cancellations are often caused by unforseen circumstances.
This is in responds to a statement from the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) regarding the airline’s domestic operations.
The NCAA had called on Air Peace to improve its operations due to alleged chronic delays and cancellations.
However, Air Peace has clarified that these disruptions are largely due to safety considerations, emphasizing that the protection of human lives is its cardinal priority.
The airline has assured its passengers that it will not compromise on safety, even if it means delaying or cancelling flights.
Air Peace explained that its decisions to ground flights are often made due to unforeseen circumstances such as weather conditions, technical issues, or operational standards that fall short of safety protocols.
For instance, one of its aircraft recently experienced a bird strike, resulting in damage to the engine, and was subsequently grounded.
Air Peace has also addressed the NCAA’s suggestion to reduce the size of its operations to align with available aircraft, stating that it has more aircraft available than are currently in use.
The airline emphasized that its fleet size is not the cause of the delays and cancellations, but rather the unpredictable nature of aviation operations.
The airline has reaffirmed its commitment to serving its passengers with dignity, professionalism, and a unwavering adherence to safety standards.
Air Peace has made it clear that it will not sacrifice safety for convenience, comfort, speed, or profit, and that every decision made is in the best interest of its passengers’ safety.
