The 8th Accra Weizo West African Travel Expo will take place on June 27, 2025, in Accra, Ghana, organizers have announced.
Preceding the expo, a road trip adventure will journey through Nigeria, Benin, Togo, and Ghana from June 21-26.
This year’s Tour Operators Summit has the theme, “Re-Imagining the ECOWAS Free Movement Protocol,” will be a central component of the event.
The summit will provide a platform for West African tour operators to network with key figures in the travel, aviation, hospitality, and tourism sectors.
Accra Weizo, organized by Akwaaba African Travel Market in partnership with the Ghana Tourism Authority, aims to stimulate seamless travel within West Africa. The initiative seeks to boost regional tourism growth by simplifying airport and border processes, standardizing tourism facilities, and showcasing skilled service providers.
Organizers highlight the paradox of West Africa: despite being the continent’s largest region with over 400 million people and rich cultural attractions, it receives relatively few tourists, while simultaneously generating the highest number of outbound African travelers. Accra Weizo aims to address this by fostering intra-regional tourism and creating a unified West African domestic market.
The expo will feature conferences, B2B sessions, familiarization trips, exhibitions, and the Balafon Awards of Excellence. These awards will recognize pioneers and top performers in the ECOWAS tourism sector.
Delegates will have the opportunity to experience tourist attractions and nightlife in Benin, Togo, and Ghana.
Accra Weizo welcomes all African tour operators and offers a valuable opportunity to connect with leading tourism professionals in West Africa.
Past events have drawn prominent attendees, including His Royal Highness, Nene Nagai Kassa VIII, Honourable Mike A. Gizo, and members of the diplomatic corps in Ghana, including High Commissioners and Ambassadors from various Southern African nations.
ATQnews.com and Accra Weizo will also recognize the Top 100 travel companies promoting travel and tourism in West Africa. The event anticipates participation from tourism boards, airlines, and hospitality outlets.
