In furtherance of its commitment to staff welfare, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria FAAN, has released the result of the 2016 promotional exercises for junior and senior staff of the agency.

Managing Director, FAAN, Mr. Saleh Dunoma who disclosed this during the 2nd Quadrennial national delegates conference of the Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association, ATSSSAN, in Ijebu Ode, Ogun state, said other staff from Grade Level 14-16 have been forwarded for ministerial approval.

Mr. Dunoma represented by Hajia Salamatu Eluwa, the director of human resources FAAN, noted that despite the challenges in the aviation sector, management of FAAN has been able to keep the welfare of staff on its front burner while maintaining a culture of prompt payment of staff salaries even in the face of dwindling revenues.

These challenges he listed as increase in the price of aviation fuel and the attendant operational costs, personal/labour relations issues and infrastructural/environmental matters.

He also explained that payments of furniture grant to staff and gratuity to former workers of FAAN have continued while payments of outstanding staff claims was on going.

According to Dunoma, the economic recession has affected the traveling public and the demand for air travel has dropped while the market has also shifted downward stressing the need for new innovative ideas.

The FAAN boss therefore called for collaboration from the union in the industry in order to restore aviation sector to profitability.

Mr. Dunoma said in order to continue with the sustainability of staff welfare, the unions needed to facilitate a rancour free atmosphere that will be germane to industrial growth.
