Former Miss Oshimili North, Miss Sandra Nkemakonam Obi has been crowned as 2016 Miss Umu Anioma Beauty Queen after a keen contest held yesterday with other nine contestants at Orchids Hotels in Asaba, Delta State.
Miss Obi emerged top after all the contestants were drilled during the Miss Umu Anioma Beauty Pageant which is part of the events of the 2016 Umu Anioma World Convention.
The first runner up was Miss Ndokwa West, Dumebi Vanessa Ufeli while second runner up was Miss Ndoni, Joyce Ifeanyi Iweka.
The ten young queens were drilled in four major areas in order to be selected as the Beauty Pageant Winner, including: traditional outfit, platform competition (catwalk), photogenic, evening gown and interview session.
Speaking shortly after the contest, convener of the Umu Anioma Beauty Pageant, Prince Emmanuel Ohai said that first prize winner attracts N100, 000: 00; second prize, N50, 000:00 and third prize, N25, 000:00. Other fringe benefits, Ohai hinted include: One year signed contract to promote the Anioma heritage around the globe. Ultimately, one gorgeous contestant will take home the crown in 2017”.
Dignitaries present at the occasion include Anioma sons and daughters. HRH Obi (Dr.) Martha Dunkwu, Omu of Okpanam/Anioma, Omu of Onicha Ukwu, Omu Theresa Uwadia and other traditional rulers were present at the occasion.
The theme of this year’s convention is tagged: “Discussion On The Determinants of Prosperity” and another major activity in form of talent hunt was also added to the pageant.
